About Me

Kaelan Gildart (they/them) was born and raised in South Portland, Maine. Initially, they wanted to pursue the visual arts in their secondary education, but at 12 found their passion for live theatre through a local summer camp (STAGES Youth Theater). From there, it snowballed into something they wanted to turn into a career, and began proper voice lessons with Gloria Bonnin around the age of 14, following dance classes taken in years prior, focusing on jazz, tap, ballet, and hip hop. Throughout high school, they participated in their school’s concert band, marching band, chamber choir, drama department, and the spring musical each year. As a singer, they were in the All-State Honors Treble Choir all 4 years that they auditioned, the All-State Honors Jazz Choir for 3 years, and also participated in the ACDA Honors Choir, and the All-National Honors Choir. They began their education at the Hartt School in Hartford, CT, as an Actor Training major before shifting gears and transferring to the University of Southern Maine, where they are now, for the remainder of their college career, majoring in Music Performance, vocal concentration, with a focus in Musical Theatre, as well as a minor in Theatre. Lately, they have worked on projects such as Little Women (as Marmee March), Carrie (as Norma, and as Carrie White U/S), and The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals (as Professor Hidgens). In addition to these, they hope to attend UPTAs in February, and have an upcoming gig at 54 Below in New York City. Kaelan hopes to continue performing well into their late adulthood until they are no longer able.
